Legends, Myths, and their True Origins

Curse of the Mummy

The discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb became the one-way ticket to fame of archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922. However, the supposedly life-changing archaeological find in the Valley of Kings became more of a curse when those involved met premature deaths, one by one. Lord Carnarvon, the benefactor of the trip died of a mosquito bite in Cairo while a scientist that X-rayed the mummy also died due to an unknown illness. Others died of ailments such as pneumonia while there are those that died of poisoning. Nevertheless, some are quite skeptical because Howard Carter himself lived a long life, dying at age 64.
